Pauline Books and Media

A Comprehensive eCommerce Solution for a Catholic Publishing House

Pauline Books & Media is the publishing house of the Daughters of St. Paul, a Roman Catholic international religious congregation founded in 1915 in Italy, which now operates in more than 50 countries around the world.

The Brief

We were briefed with building a new website for the UK branches of Pauline Books & Media, from which the ministry could make its books and other products available for sale, as well as sharing its teachings. The site would feature a new, refreshed design and an automated stock control and sales process, which would allow the ministry to increase its online catalogue and strengthen its eCommerce solution.

The Challenge

The key requirement of the project was providing a central eCommerce solution for the UK bookshops, which meant managing a number of different integrations to allow full sales management for the site. The site also had to strike a tone which was consistent with the ethos of the Daughters of St Paul.

The Solution

We delivered a site which gave Pauline Books & Media the ability to meet its commercial aims in a compelling, cohesive way. As the website working smoothly was dependent on a number of integrations working together seamlessly, we worked very closely with the third-party providers to ensure that this happened. Nielsen BookData provides information on bibliographic data, Triquestra Infinity controls the stock and ordering process until point of sale and PayPoint enables customers to pay directly through the site. It was important that while the site had a focus on the commercial needs of a publishing house, this was balanced with the spiritual philosophy and culture of the ministry, so as well as being able to manage their sales automatically though a comprehensive eCommerce solution, they are able to manage all website content, newsletters and blogs to share their message using a custom CMS.
