Restaurants are becoming more innovative in the ways that they allow customers to order and the UK takeaway delivery market continues to balloon. Just Eat, one of the UK’s biggest food delivery services, report that their sales have risen by 46 percent to £118.9m in the first three months of 2017.
SmoQue Burger, a high-end fast food outlet in Brighton, aimed to capitalise on this trend by replacing their presence on food delivery sites, with their own process driven web presence, that offers customers the online service and delivery options to match the quality of their food. SmoQue Burger aim to further drive their sales by providing this enhanced online experience.
We were briefed with creating a platform for SmoQue Burger, that not only delivered a smooth eCommerce experience for the customer, but also automated processes and allowed the company to manage the full customer cycle, from order placement to creation, despatch, delivery and payment.
SmoQue Burger also wanted to be able to collect meaningful site usage information, which will provide customer insight to help them grow. It was also important that the site was scalable, as they look to add more branches in the future.
One of the key challenges of this project was to ensure that we built an end-to-end system that allowed an order to flow seamlessly through each stage of the order process; the system that we created needed to provide a great customer experience, include checks at each stage and provide real-time updates to the customer on their order.
The solution also needed to allow orders to be fulfilled via different outlets and allow for a limitless scaling of the business, so that it can work for franchises as well as the original outlets, and allow all the staff to fulfil their duties behind the scenes.
In order to deliver the best-in-breed mobile first website the client required we spent a lot of time researching the market.
We delivered an eye-catching eCommerce site, that allows SmoQue Burger customers to browse the menu and place orders quickly and securely. We developed exciting and unique functionality that allows the end user to fully configure their own burger.
Secure sections for customers, kitchen staff and delivery staff allow different user types to access the information that they need and a secure administrators’ area allows the SmoQue Burger team to view and manage all activity via the site.
The production and delivery process has been streamlined, with the order passing through the kitchen and automatically on to the packing and then delivery team when complete. Chefs see the information they need on a touch screen in the kitchen and clear orders at the touch of a button. Till and cash drawer integration allow the packing staff to attach receipts to orders and take payment for collections. All activity is timed from the moment the order is placed and in-built targets allow the system to automatically flag any order that is close to exceeding the time that it is expected to take.
The solution we provided allows SmoQue Burger to set up multiple new outlets, allowing business scalability without any extra work or cost.
We are currently working on a dedicated native app and a driver delivery app with GPS and route planning functionality embedded.
